We had been used the word refugee as the name of our commission before the Suwon conference, South Korea in 2002. The term forced migration is a broader term including many kind of displaced persons beside refugees.
The Forced Migration Commission(FMC) is concerned with any kind of topics related to peace and forced migration. We wish to discuss the following issues: (1) unknown inhumanitarian situations of displaced persons in East Europe, Africa, Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, (2) toward the resettlement of refugees, (3) the legal aspects of forced migration issues, (4) the role of the United Nations and NGOs on issues of displaced persons.
FMC is also open to paper submissions for the forthcoming conference in Belgium that discuss the broader philosophical, theoretical, historical, practical and experimental aspects of forced migration. FMC will welcome proposals for presentations by university students as well as by more senior professionals.
