About the International Human Rights Commission

The Commission on International Human Rights (CIHR) became the successor to IPRA's Food Policy Commission in the early 1990s. It provides a forum for collective reflection on concrete current human rights issues and on the more enduring meaning of the global human rights project.

The CIHR seeks to strengthen the international human rights movement by facilitating communications among human rights advocates at the global level. Its panel sessions at the IPRA conferences are designed to build linkages among individuals and organizations working on human rights throughout the world. Our premise is that if human rights advocates--both individuals and organizations--work together effectively they will manifest more power in the world.
